Art to Explore, Not Just Observe

Denise Davis is a contemporary mixed media artist and maker whose work lives at the intersection of nature, faith, and tactile exploration. Working from her studio, she creates pieces that invite the viewer to slow down, lean in, and discover something new with every look.

Her practice spans a wide range of materials — handmade papers, natural fibers, birch bark, wire, crochet, embroidery thread, and watercolor — each chosen for the texture, story, and feeling it brings to a piece. No two works are alike, and that is entirely intentional.

Denise describes her creative process as Spirit-Led — a practice of listening, surrendering to the materials, and allowing each piece to become what it needs to be. The result is work that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Her collections range from birch bark shadow boxes layered with crochet and wire, to expressive watercolor botanicals, wearable fiber art, and the bold, color-forward Splash Series. Each collection reflects a different facet of her creative voice.

Denise accepts a limited number of commissions each year and welcomes conversations about custom work. If a piece speaks to you — or if you'd like to bring something entirely new into the world — she'd love to hear from you.

Creative Philosophy

How the Work Comes to Life

Spirit-Led

Each piece begins not with a plan, but with a posture of listening. Denise allows the materials and the moment to guide the work, trusting the process as much as the outcome.

Tactile & Layered

Texture is central to everything. Bark, fiber, wire, and paper are layered to create surfaces that reward close looking — pieces that feel as rich as they look.

Nature as Muse

From birch bark to botanical forms, the natural world is a constant source of inspiration. Denise brings the outside in, honoring the beauty found in organic materials and living things.
